Built in 1997 for guitarist Neil Zaza under the name "The Black Box... Top Secret Tone Purifier," the Pure Tone Buffer solves a problem that most guitar players don't know they have: the signal degradation caused by cable capacitance and the loading effect of multiple effects pedals. Place it first in your signal chain and your guitar sounds as direct and alive as a short cable plugged straight into an amplifier — regardless of how many pedals and how much cable follows. The same buffer circuit has been built into every Truetone pedal ever made. This is that circuit, alone, in its own housing.
The 1M ohm input impedance loads your guitar pickups minimally, preserving high-frequency content. The 50 ohm output impedance drives long cable runs and multiple pedals without loss.
