Truetone  ·  Family Owned and Operated Since 1995

Bob Weil

It all started back in 1988 when our founder, Bob Weil, got fed up with an unreliable volume pedal that had no visual feedback and an abrupt taper. With zero background in engineering, Bob taught himself electronics the old-school way (libraries, phone calls to experts, endless trial and error) and invented the world's first Visual Volume™ pedal with an LED ladder display. He launched the company at NAMM in 1995 as Visual Sound.

Over the years, we created beloved effects like the Jekyll & Hyde, Route 66, H2O, and more. But as pedalboards grew more complex, we saw a bigger problem: noisy, bulky, or inconsistent power supplies ruining great tone.

That led us to develop the 1 SPOT®, the original compact, daisy-chainable 9V adapter that's quiet, reliable, and still powers rigs on stages and in studios around the world today. In 2015, we proudly rebranded to Truetone to reflect our expanded vision and commitment to delivering true, uncompromised tone through better power solutions.

Today, Truetone is best known for the 1 SPOT Pro® series: isolated, high-current, ultra-low-noise pedalboard power supplies (including the CS12, CS11, CS7, and the low-profile CS6) designed to handle modern digital rigs and beyond, without hum, sag, or hassle. Truetone pioneered isolated switching power supply design for pedalboard power, starting in 2015.

We've stayed independent, musician-focused, and obsessed with solving real-world problems so you can plug in, play, and sound your best every time.

Our Team: We're a tight-knit crew of players, engineers, techs, and industry vets who live and breathe this stuff. You'll notice a bunch of Weil family members too. Yes, we're still family owned and operated, since 1995.
